Angry John Lennon Letter Up For Auction

An angry John Lennon letter written to a journalist who said The Beatles had exploited black American music, is going under the hammer.

Lennon was outraged when an article appeared in the New York Times in 1971 called ‘The Beatles Betrayal.’
The article slammed The Beatles and other white bands for apparently not giving enough credit to black artists that they covered on tracks like ‘Twist n Shout.’

Lennon replied saying: “One thing we always did do was make it known that there were black originals, we loved the music and wanted to spread it in any way we could.”
