Thievery Corporation to release new single for charity

Thievery Corporation is proud to team up with Mondano, a grass-roots nonprofit organization in Washington DC. The project is bringing photographers and musicians together to focus attention on the Chernobyl disasters continuing consequences.

Thievery Corporation will release a new single The Passing Stars feat. Pam Bricker on May 2nd, 2006 exclusively on iTunes. The proceeds of the sales of the single will go to several charities working in the affected regions of Belarus, Ukraine, and the Russian Federation. The track, an outtake from the The Cosmic Game recording sessions, is a haunting, moody gem with the late Pam Brickers unmistakable voice. Along with the single is the digital booklet of photos which take a humanistic view of life after Chernobyl through the eyes of some of the world's top photographers, such as Pulitzer Prize winner Lucian Perkins, Paul Fusco of the Magnum agency, Robert Knoth, Antonin Kratochvil, Bill Crandall and many others.

Twenty years have passed since a radioactive cloud swept over Ukraine, Belarus, Russia, and beyond. Yet according to many experts, many serious consequences are just now becoming clear. Millions of people live in the shadow of a tragedy that is far from over - in fact, that may be just beginning.

The participating charities are:

1) Chernobyl Childrens Project International (CCPI) USA, Ireland

2) Children of Chornobyl Relief and Development Fund (CCRDF)

You can learn more about the project at www.C-20.org
