Axl Rose fined over Stockholm brawl

Axl Rose, lead singer of rock band Guns n' Roses, was released by police last on Tuesday after having been arrested in the Swedish capital for violent conduct and damaging a hotel room earlier in the day.

Rose was released after pleading guilty to a misdemeanour of violent conduct and criminal damage and agreeing to pay a fine of 40,000 crowns and 10,000 crowns in compensation to a security guard, a police spokeswoman said.

The Guns n' Roses frontman, whose hits include Welcome to the Jungle and Paradise City, was arrested early on Tuesday suspected of attacking a security guard and threatening a policeman. He also caused minor damage to the interior of the hotel, the police said.

Rose, who played a concert in Stockholm on Monday night, was "too drunk to talk" when he was detained and was held in a cell until sober enough for questioning, police said.

"The matter is now concluded," police spokeswoman Towe Hagg said.
